Principles of Inorganic Chemistry
Principles of Inorganic ChemistryIf you are an organic chemist then you will undoubtedly know what the principles of inorganic chemistry are and what they look like. You also probably know that they are actually the building blocks of chemistry. The fundamental principles of organic chemistry are really quite simple. They are laid down in the Periodic Table of Elements by a series of letters. These principles define what properties of a particular element has, or what elements it is made up of.The first and most obvious principle of inorganic chemistry is that iron is an element. You may be surprised to learn that it is also called 'metallic iron'. For many years, the periodic table of elements showed iron as a metal and, therefore, was not included in the periodic table.Chemical bonds are the fundamental and most important of all principles of inorganic chemistry. When iron comes into contact with another element such as silicon or sulphur, the other element's electrons will get thro wn out of whack and the atoms will then get back together again, giving them a positive charge. In other words, the electrical charges will be reversed. A particular element's chemical bonding is what makes it similar to another element.Oxygen and Nitrogen are the other two elements with chemical bonding. Oxygen has the double bond 'O' while Nitrogen does not. This is why it is so difficult to separate the two. It's easier to find a way to combine them into 'compounds' that will then be able to do this.Compounds can be made when certain elements are combined. When iron is combined with carbon it becomes Iron Carbonate. Combining other elements with metals makes metallic compounds such as steel and tungsten. These compounds are strong, tough and very useful, having unique properties that make them ideal for a variety of different things. The element indium is so useful that it was used to make the modern computers. Inorganic materials have been used in cosmetic products such as cosmet ics and toiletries for a long time now.Principles of inorganic chemistry are not something that you should take lightly and if you're wondering what the principles of inorganic chemistry looks like then you'll need to get yourself a good book on this subject. It's a subject that's quite easy to learn and is only a subject in which you will learn basic information.

The end of Philosophy - and it`s all for profit - Tutor Hunt Blog
The end of Philosophy - and it`s all for profit The end of Philosophy - and it`s all for profit The end of Philosophy - and it`s all for profitSecondary SchoolsIt was with great dismay that I heard about the possible closure of the philosophy department at the university of Hull, the establishment I attended the back in the 1970`s. Though I didn`t study philosophy, I was aware that the university had offered the subject since it opened in 1928, and the course it offered was prestigious, attracting students throughout the UK and abroad. Philosophy has never been as popular in this country as on the continent, where many schools have mandatory lessons covering the subject. I`m not even sure if there is a GCSE philosophy course available in the UK, and I`ve heard that few schools offer the subject at A-level. The sad truth is that many people seem to consider the subject, from a scholastic point of view, to be a waste of time. I recall how we used to joke amongst friends at university, facetiously asking them `what kind of job do you expect to get with that degree, are you really going to be a professional philosopher?` Juvenile humour perhaps, but many would agree that the subject has few practical applications in the workplace. Humanities courses are generally cheaper to teach - no expensive science labs or state of the art IT systems are needed, with a knowledgeable and enthusiastic teacher being all that is required to teach the subject. The emeritus professor of philosophy Kathleen Lennon has said that `Philosophy at Hull is financially viable - providing a healthy return for the university.` What can be the reason for the university no longer accepting any joint honours students, and the fact that they have said, concerning philosophy, they `will not be recruiting new students` in 2019? The university`s registrar Jeanette Strachan gave, to my mind, a clear answer to this. In a statement to a local newspaper she said that the university aims to provide students with `a high-quality academic experience and ensure that their qualification holds value over time`. Back when university fees didn`t exist people could afford to be more libertine with their educational choices. Nowadays of course things are rather different - with university education costing around 9000 per year perhaps students are being more discriminating in their selections, being careful to choose degrees that are likely to secure them a well paying job. I can completely understand how, if you are going to be spending nearly thirty thousand pounds for a degree, you want to be careful to select one that will be remunerative, one that is most likely to lead you into a well paying job. I can`t help feeling a sense of sadness though - whatever happened to the pursuit of knowledge, learning for learning`s sake? Is the whole purpose of education to train individuals, making them into square pegs that will fit into the appropriate receptacles in the job market? Many people would say yes, that`s exactly what schools and universities are for - we need to form a competent and dedicated workforce, now more than ever, what with brexit on the horizon, and our somewhat tenuous place on the global stage. If universities start dropping philosophy from their listings of which subjects will be next? Will other subjects in the humanities vanish from sight? English literature, history and the arts - will they be next to go? I can`t help feeling that this is the first step towards a dilution of cultural appreciation, and we should be very careful which subjects we allow to be removed. The British Philosophical Association wrote an open letter to Hull university, lamenting the possible removal of the subject from its curriculum, along with explicating the benefits the degree confers: `Philosophy degrees equip students with a wide range of highly valued and sought-after skills, and there is compelling evidence that graduate employers have a high regard for philosophy degree-holders`. I have been part of many interview panels in different industries, and I can attest that my colleges and I always valued the inclusion of a humanities subject on a candidate`s CV. To us it often suggested a broader minded, more interesting individual, compared to someone who had just studied more `academic` subjects. Philosophy itself comes from the Greek term - which has travelled down the millennia to us via the Latin word philosophia, literally meaning `love of wisdom.` How terrible it would be, if we turned away from this nobel pursuit - if we put profit before wisdom. Should we do so I wonder what the next treacherous step might be: profit before truth perhaps? Perish the thought 14 months ago0Add a Comment

Chemistry Worksheet Help
Chemistry Worksheet HelpA chemistry worksheet is a simple calculation that tells the student of how much of a substance there is. Here are two worksheets that the students can use to keep track of their chemical assignments. Use these two worksheets to help them. The first worksheet has two formulas, one for organic compounds and one for inorganic compounds. The formulas that are used on the organic worksheet are the same as those used on the inorganic worksheet. The only difference is that the organic formulas are given as fractions. Therefore, you would multiply the number of grams that are in the chemical compound by the amount that is known about the organic fraction. For example, let's say that you have found a new type of metal that is being used in electricity. You then have to find out how much of this metal there is in the mixture of the organic compound. You would multiply the number of grams in the chemical compound by the weight of the metal that is found in the compound.Th e second worksheet shows the formulas for organic compounds. This worksheet also includes the formula for the chemical compound and the formula for the inorganic compound. Again, the formulas that are used are the same for both the worksheets. You can see that this worksheet will help you to learn more about chemical compounds. So, even if you are not familiar with the composition of a compound, you will learn it on this worksheet. After you finish doing your chemical worksheet, you will be able to compare the formula for the compound with that of the one that you learned earlier. In the beginning, you will need to look up the formulas yourself. If you were to do a chemical worksheet as a test, you could use the worksheet for an inorganic worksheet. You will find that this worksheet is used as a help for students who are learning the chemistry of metals. For example, a metal that you are trying to study will have a mixture of atoms that are in the form of atoms. All of these atoms wil l have an electron or an anti-electron present, but they will be in different positions than those of the inorganic formula. So, if you are at a test grade level, you should be able to handle this worksheet. There are many types of test worksheets that you can use for your class. These include all-in-one worksheets that contain many different components and modules.
Whats the Differences Gym Classes Personal Training
Whats the Differences Gym Classes Personal Training Personal Training at Home or Exercise Classes in a Sports Centre: How Do I Decide? ChaptersThe Role of a Personal TrainerThe Advantage and Disadvantages of Working with Personal TrainersChoosing the Right Personal TrainerThe Advantages of Taking Classes at the GymAs anyone in the booming fitness industry will tell you, there are so many options for people who want to work out and get fit. When it comes to getting into shape, strength and fitness training, toning certain parts of your body, or just working towards your health and fitness goals, you have two main choices: getting healthier with group fitness classes in gyms or health clubs or doing workouts with a personal fitness trainer in the comfort of your own home.Which should you choose? What are the differences between these two options?Superprof has the answers.Whether a fitness instructor works in a sports centre or with their clients inside or out, whether they do sessions with 1, 2, 5, or 10 students, theyâre a fitness professional and choosing the right one can be very difficult. While it's great havi ng a choice, sometimes you have so much choice you don't even know where you should begin and whether you should even work with a personal trainer in the first place! We'll get to choosing the right online personal trainer in a bit... In addition to suggesting the right exercises for strength training or fitness, your certified personal trainer is also a professional who needs to tailor their programmes to each of their clients and make sure that each activity is as effective as it can be. Their commitment to helping people to live healthier lives is why they decided to learn about physiology and become a personal trainer in the first place. The Advantage and Disadvantages of Working with Personal TrainersThe Advantages of Personalised TrainingAs soon as youâve hired your one on one personal fitness trainer, theyâll start tailoring their programme to you. Theyâll work with your availability, the days and hours when you can exercise, and do whatever they can to make sure that you r personal training works with your other commitments. Thanks to their flexibility, you wonât have to stress about it. You wonât need to worry about finding a space to park at the gym, either!Another difference is that this personal trainer is there to motivate you to train in order to get healthier. When you go to the gym on your own, it's very easy to tell yourself you've done enough, cut corners in your work out, or not go at all! There will inevitably be days when you want to give up. Donât worry! Your accredited personal trainer will be there every step of the way to ensure that you remain motivated.Furthermore, you donât need to worry about getting to your sessions since your personal trainer will come to you with their own equipment. Youâll no longer need to head out into the cold and rain and youâll no longer have any excuses to not do your exercises.Youâll also be far less tempted to put off working out.Is it better to work out alone or with a specialised trai ner? (Source: pixabay.com)The main difference when it comes to the sessions is that you always have a professional on hand to help you with any fitness concerns you may have and to guide you every step of the way ensuring that you donât injure yourself during your personal training sessions. Thanks to this level of support, youâll stay motivated and see better results than if you were working on your own. Furthermore, these sessions are tailor made for you and will work with your body type and your fitness levels.Your personal trainer can give you advice, change activities according to your expectations, needs, and your physical fitness. Theyâre also there to teach you about your body and give you clear and precise advice on what will work best for you.If you have an idea of what youâd like to achieve, be it strength training, weight loss, or fitness training, your personal trainer is there to answer all your questions and make sure you meet your objectives.Ensure that they have a personal trainer certification that's nationally recognised. This means that they can also make sure that youâre not doing any of your exercises dangerously. The final advantage is that personal trainers can also specialise in a variety of different things. For example, in addition to exercising, your personal trainer might be an expert in relaxation, nutrition, etc. This additional training can be hugely beneficial when it comes to to personal training. This is where personal training comes into its own.The Disadvantages of Personal TrainersThere are two main disadvantages to personal trainers that we can see.Firstly, the limit to how many different activities they can suggest and offer. Certain physical activities require special machines or facilities that a personal trainer wonât be able to bring to your house. For example, you probably donât have a steam room, sauna, swimming pool, or a gym in your house. There are some activities you can't do at home. (Source: p ixabay.com)Another negative is the cost. Sessions at your home tend to cost more than joining a gym. Nevertheless, if you do your research you should be able to find personal trainers (on sites like Superprof, for example) offering their services at very competitive rates or offering discounts for smaller groups.Choosing the Right Personal TrainerIf you've decided that getting a personal trainer is right for you, that's great! The next biggest challenge is going to be choosing the right one. As we said earlier, there are absolutely tonnes of trainers to choose from and each one has their strengths and weaknesses when it comes to training you!The first thing you should do is write down all your fitness goals. What are you trying to do? Would you like to lose weight, build muscle, or are you training for a marathon? You need to outline your objectives before you start looking for personal trainers.Next work out your budget. Don't pluck a number out of thin air. Have a look at the a verage prices for personal trainers in your area that specialise in the type of training you're looking for and work out what you can afford. Don't waste your time looking for trainers that are outside of your budget! Finally, speak to and meet as many trainers as you can. Make sure you ask them about their qualifications, experience, approach, rates, and availability before you arrange to meet. Many personal trainers will offer taster sessions where you can see if you get along. Once you've done your casting, you can shortlist the best ones and start making your decision. The Advantages of Taking Classes at the GymThe Advantages of Taking Classes at the GymThe main advantage of taking gym fitness classes near me over personal trainers is that there are far more facilities available: workout benches, rowing machines, treadmills, cross-trainers, weights, etc. Some sports centres and gyms also pride themselves on having the latest machines available on the market. Other centres also com e complete with a pool, sauna, and masseuses.Sports centres and gyms also offer special packages and rates depending on which facilities youâd like to use.A personal trainer can help you prepare for the big game. (Source: pixabay.com)Another advantage is that the classes are available almost every hour of the day and the centres themselves are also open for long hours meaning that you can train, workout, or exercise whenever suits you.You can also meet up with your personal trainer or gym buddies, meaning thereâs also almost always someone to hang out with when you go.Gyms and sports centres are usually friendly places where you can spend time with people who like the same sports as you do.Our final advantage when it comes to going to the gym is that the staff there have to have the right qualifications, meaning that all their personal trainers are seasoned professionals. The Disadvantages of the GymOne disadvantage of gyms is that thereâs no guarantee that thereâs one near y our house. This means that youâll often have to travel to the gym to workout or attend a class! If you go by car, youâll need to find a place to park and if you go by public transport, the station or bus stop mightnât be nearby. Your workout may start as you get in your vehicle...Another disadvantage is that you can never be alone in a sports centre or gym.Make sure you're doing it right. (Source: Isabella Mendes)While this does mean you can meet other people, some people arenât comfortable with working out, getting changed, or showering in front of other people. This can demotivate some people and even put them off exercising altogether.Additionally, the staff at the gym arenât working with you on a personal basis, wonât be giving you advice, and your workout programme wonât be as effective as one drawn up with you in mind by your own personal trainer. Sure, it's better than sitting on your sofa watching sports films, but it won't give you the returns of having your own personal trainer.
Remote Management Tips for Introverts - Introvert Whisperer
Introvert Whisperer / Remote Management Tips for Introverts - Introvert Whisperer Remote Management Tips for Introverts Managing a team can be a challenge if youâre an introvert, since face-to-face meetings, phone calls, and lots of social interaction in the office can quickly start to feel overwhelming and tiring. But that same preference for less social interaction can make introverts ideal remote employees, and you may find that managing a remote team is easier than managing an in-office team. Todayâs global economy has generated a shift toward virtual teams, and in 2011, over 3.1 United States employees telecommuted. By 2012, 46% of organizations were using virtual teams for the many advantages they offer, including allowing organizations to access talent in multiple locations, as well as allowing organizations to increase collaboration among both employees and across global business units. With ever-improving technology and more businesses understanding the benefits that remote workers can offer, youâre more likely to have a chance to manage a remote team. As an introvert, you can successfully manage remote employees by using a few important strategies. Establish Team Solidarity While working remotely offers many benefits, it can fail if employees feel like theyâre left out of the loop, if they donât receive important updates about projects theyâre working on, and if they donât feel like theyâre part of the team. As a manager, youâll need to build and maintain team solidarity to ensure that your staff are successful. Building solidarity starts with setting clear expectations for your team. Your staff should always know what theyâre working on, what tasks are priorities, and what is expected of them in their individual role. Consider how you would like staff to approach you with questions do you prefer email? Text messages? and encourage employees to use these methods to reach out to you. Be sure to also provide ongoing feedback about how staff are doing. As project plans or deadlines change, ensure that all staff promptly receive written updates, whether you decide to send out a group email or incorporate those updates into pre-planned weekly meetings. Focusing on building a strong team will benefit all of your staff. Team-building activities that can be accomplished online can help the members feel like a cohesive unit, and a well-defined goal for the entire team gets everyone working toward the same outcome. As you get to know your team better, you may also find it easier to engage with your team. Also encourage feedback from your team and give them the power to make decisions and influence the project. This encourages your staff to be dedicated to and engaged in the work that theyâre doing. Use Multiple Communication Tools Good communication is key to a successful remote team, but itâs also one of the most challenging aspects of leading a remote team as an introvert. For instance, leading an overseas team brings about unique challenges in balancing different time zones, schedules, and cultures. Thatâs one reason why if youâre outsourcing a team, having a nearshore or onshore partnership can make communication and the overall management experience easier. Regardless of where your team is located, though, there are many ways to foster communication. Use multiple modes of technology to keep the whole team connected, including video conferencing, email, phone calls, and even texting. You may also want to invest in a forum or chat space that allows your staff to engage in real-time. Outline a clear communication policy for the team so staff know how and when to connect with other members and with you. Leading a team when youâre introverted means that some of these meetings may be uncomfortable for you, but you can use techniques to make them easier. Try to schedule one-on-one meetings when appropriate, since these settings have less pressure than youâll feel speaking in front of a large group of people. When you do need to hold larger team meetings, plan out and distribute an agenda ahead of time to keep things on track. Donât feel that you have to do all of the talking, too; you can ask team members responsible for certain parts of the project to give updates, which will give you a few minutes to regroup and listen. Be Aware of Burnout Burnout doesnât just happen to in-office employees; it can affect remote workers, too. In fact, because remote workers may feel grateful to their employers for offering them this location flexibility, these workers may feel indebted to their employers and work longer and harder than they otherwise would. When an employee is remote, employers may add on extra work or shorter deadlines without having an understanding of whether those expectations are realistic. Many situations can cause remote workers to be overworked and face burnout. As a manager, you can help to reduce the chances of employee burnout. Check in with your employees and be aware of whatâs going on in their lives, such as an upcoming move, an ill parent, or a new baby. Encourage your team to take vacations and sick days when needed, and try to offer some scheduling flexibility or extra time off after the team meets a big deadline. Set guidelines about work hours and make sure that all team members recognize that emails or inquiries sent after standard hours wonât be addressed until the next business day. Donât forget to apply these burnout prevention strategies to yourself, too. Managing a team as an introvert can be draining, but with remote management options like text messages and emails, you may find that this remote management is easier than in-person management is. When you solve equations, you usually have to solve for x. This means you're given a formula with certain expressions, sometimes a coefficient, and your job is to rearrange it so that the unknown number (usually represented by x) becomes a known quantity.Sometimes these problems are presented without the formula in the form of word problems whereby you have to create and solve equations, rather than just being given algebraic equations. If you have gaps in your maths knowledge or you just want to improve, you have to master these essential maths skills.Donât forget that maths is a core subject and the skills you learn from i t will accompany you throughout your academic and professional life! In fact, thatâs why we deal with problems all the way through our maths lessons.Whether itâs geometry or algebra, most of the exercises you do during your maths revision classes are also on the exams you take. Whatever your level, the approach to solving a maths problem is the same. You have to imagine the problem like an investigation. You have the clues in the question and you have to carry out an inquiry and take the necessary steps to find the solution. If you want to succeed in maths, you have to know these concepts.Whether in maths class or in a private tutorial, youâll learn concepts that are essential to the discipline. Maths exercises are simply applying these concepts. Thus, revision sheets and studying the exercises done in class are essential to getting ahead in maths. If you want to solve maths problems, you have to pay attention in class! (Source: pixabay.com)Once youâve mastered these essential concepts for solving problems, you have to:take care of your work environment, keeping a calculator at handtake time to read the problem several times before starting to tackle itrecognise the clues that you already havetest hypotheses on a scrap piece of pap ercheck your results several timesBeing able to solve problems is essential if you want to progress in maths. Nevertheless, you may still have difficulties. In this case, you need to stay motivated and persevere.A math tutor, through their private tutorials, can help a student to gain confidence in themselves and develop the essential maths skills. If the problems are becoming a problem, the tutor can also provide regular training and adapt their teaching methods in order to help the maths student progress more quickly. How Do You Solve a Maths Equation? Before solving an equation, you need to understand what mathematicians mean when they say this.An equation means that both sides are equal and thereâs a variable, normally called x, which we need to find out.We usually learn about addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, and mental arithmetic in primary school. However, itâs not until weâre older when we start to see equations popping up in this form:7x + 5 = 3x â" 15 This is when we first meet the x. and we start having to solve these equations which still involve adding, subtracting, dividing, and multiplying. As we move on through school, we start seeing more and more of them. These equations get more complex in line with the level of maths taught as you get to the end of compulsory education.Equations are an integral part of secondary school maths. (Source: stock.tookapic.com)Throughout your time in school and for those that decide to study maths or a scientific subject, these equations never disappear. So you'll have to learn to solve them sooner or later! The simplest equations (linear or first degree equations) are those that we first learn to solve and these are the steps you have to take to do it:Isolate the unknown (this means putting it on its own on one side of the equal sign)Regroup the termsDivide, multiply, add, and subtract (as per the equation)Write the solutionSo, for example, the equation 3x - 5 = â"x + 2 is solved as follows :3x + x = 5 + 24x = 7x = 7/4Therefore x = 1.75Remember that when you solve equations, whatever you do to one side, you have to do to another, else you'll end up with inequalities. You should also remember that in order to find a solution, adding is the opposite of subtracting, dividing is the opposite of multiplying, taking the square root is the opposite of squaring, and factoring is the opposite of expanding.Once youâve worked how to solve linear equations, you can then move onto zero-product or second degree equations like: (ax + b) (cx+d) = 0.The key rule that your maths teacher will tell you is that the product of these factors is zero only if one of the factors is zero. That means you need to solve as many equations as there are factors in your problem. However, there are other types of quotient equations which can seem really complicated to students. Quotients are presented as follows: f(x) / g(x) = 0.You need to remember that a quotient is null only if its numerator is null and its denominator is not.You must therefore exclude prohibited values all while reducing the denominator in order to bring the equation to a null quotient. You need to use cross products:x/ x+1 = x-1 / x+2x (x + 2) = (x - 1)(x + 1) x (x + 2) - (x - 1) (x + 1) = 0x ² + 2x â" (x ² â" 1) = 0x ² + 2x â" x ² + 1 = 02x + 1 = 0x = -(1/2)The solution is therefore = -(1/2)These can be either a simple maths problem or a geometry problem. In this case, you have to use the methodology for solving problems while adding everything we know for the equation, too.You must translate the problem into maths terms in order to then solve it and, in these cases, donât forget to provide the literal solution as well. How to Solve FunctionsStudying functions is one of the more advanced aspects of maths we learn at school. In maths, a piece of scrap paper is your best ally. (Source: stock.tookapic.com)We study polynomial, exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric equations, thei r variations, and their limits. You need to find their extremums, asymptotes, and, above all, draw the function. This mean you need to learn how to draw a variation table by taking the following steps:Derive the functionFactorise in order to express under the form of a product or a quotientStudy the sign fâ(x) against IDraw the variation table of F against IDraw the function on its intervalYou can work on the derivatives and variation tables with your private maths tutor. Regular maths exercises will help you improve. In fact, you should always pay attention to carefully placing your plot point on a curve in order to avoid mistakes. You can use A Level past papers to practice on in order to avoid any surprises when it comes to taking your exam and give you the best chance of passing.Unsolved Maths ProblemsIn addition to the mathematical notions you learn, maths also teaches us how to think mathematically. Even the less mathematical of us can use maths in our everyday lives. Some of us love the subject so much that we want to dedicate our lives to it. If youâre the latter, you may be interested in some of the unsolved mathematical problems. In fact, there are plenty of problems that mathematicians have never found the answer to.Computers can't even solve these problems! (Source: pixabay.com)The Clay Mathematics Institute defined 7 of them in 2000. These are a little trickier than finding the intercept in systems of equations, substitution, or messing about with a graphing calculator. In fact, that's why if you solve one of these problems, you can win a million dollars:Riemann hypothesisHodge conjectureBirch and Swinnerton-Dyer conjectureNavierâ"Stokes existence and smoothnessYangâ"Mills existence and mass gapThe seventh problem, the Poincaré conjecture, was solved by the Russian mathematician Grigori Perelmann in 2003. Don't worry, though. There are six left to solve! In addition to these unsolved problems, there are also Ramsey numbers and Lychrel numbers (with 196âs famous unfindable palindrome). To better prepare for these challenges, youâre going to have to get a good grasp of maths and problem solving.Whether you're still not sure how to solve quadratic equations or are struggling with systems of linear equations, calculus, complex numbers, trigonometry, notation, or just simply simplifying formulae, a maths tutor could help you with this and lead you to future mathematical success. How much does a maths tutor cost? For that, there's no absolute value!
